Arlo Parks (really is) Too Good
This week, BRIT Award winning West London based artist Arlo Parks (who is just 20 YEARS OLD) shared the video for "Too Good," the latest single from her critically acclaimed debut album Collapsed In Sunbeams which I have been completely obsessed with since it came out earlier this year. On it the album, Parks uses poetry as her songwriting compass, weaving vivid imagery and sensory touches throughout the stirring, honest stories that make up her already-rich body of work.
The single, written by Parks with production from Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence Welch, Jorja Smith), is a shining example of her prized poetry and tender delivery, brought beautifully to life in the visual clip directed by the duo Bedroom (Beabadoobee, The 1975).
On the track, Parks shares: "I did this one with Paul in one of our first days of sessions. I showed him all the music that I was obsessed with at the time, from ’70s Zambian psychedelic rock to MF DOOM and the hip-hop that I love via Tame Impala and big ’90s throwback pop by TLC. From there, it was a whirlwind. Paul started playing this drumbeat, and then I was just running around for ages singing into mics and going off to do stuff on the guitar. I love some of the little details, like the bump on someone’s wrist and getting to name-drop Thom Yorke. It feels truly me."
