Jan 27 The Dodos are back

I have been a long time fan of The Dodos, since the breakthrough of "Visitor" in 2008 and a fond if not fuzzy due to day time margarita consumption memory of watching them play at Pianos during CMJ that year. Or maybe it was at a dilapidated LES Fader Fort pop up? Oh who knows, I was still in my 20s and in the joyous musical blur of things The Dodos were a definite highlight. Fast forwarding from there, every new Dodos album has brought something new and special along with it, always seeming to be released just at a time when I really need my attention grabbed and held by something GOOD and this is 100000% the case with their new LP Individ - OUT TODAY on Polyvinyl. From the outset with six-plus minute opener "Precipitation," Individ sucks you in and the ebb and flow of the album - sometimes a bit manic but also equally magnetic - never let's you go (almost PEAKING in fact at the 5 minute mark of closer "Pattern/Shadow.") Consider this the first top 10 list of 2015 contender for yours truly and we aren't even in February yet!

The SF duo are on tour starting pretty much immediately, with a free performance TODAY here in town over at Amoeba.
