Oh Wonder
On the first of the month, a few things happen. At my job I get to do fun things like reconcile billing and ad spend from the month before. In actual life my landlord deposits my rent check and I shed a tear for my subsequent broke-ness. But at least from a music perspective, there is a silver lining courtesy of an emerging - and mysterious - new duo out of the UK called Oh Wonder (formerly known as Wonder Wonder). The reason for this is that every month, for one year, they will be releasing a single track from their debut album exclusively online - and gosh it's good stuff.
So far they are four tracks in, and while I've enjoyed them all ("Dazzle" was a recent spin on the radio show), the latest offering was just the right amount of gorgeous and haunting that I had to share. "All We Do" is the perfect level of simplicity that showcases the duo's gorgeously blended vocals with just a piano accompaniment sans the synths that appear on some of their rest of the album's early offerings.
There isn't much more I can tell you about Oh Wonder right now - except that it's nice to have something to look forward to every month that doesn't involve large checks and excel spreadsheets - but I am sure soon enough we will all be hearing a lot more about this band. Stay tuned.
