Miracles Of Modern Science (MOMS) at Glasslands 11/12

After finally indulging in the much buzzed about Brooklyn Bowl fried chicken dinner (two thumbs up, although I personally thought the fried chicken at Egg was better), I braved the Williamsburg wind tunnel and walked over to Glasslands to finally check out Miracles of Modern Science (MOMS) live. And let me just tell you that I was so glad that I did, because this show was one of those magical ones where you walk away afterwards feeling as though you just experienced something very very special. The band played an incredibly energetic set of their string heavy (no electronics here) self-described 'orchestral space pop' which was equal parts lush and dramatic as it was endearingly campy at times. I should also mention that their violin player was one of the most fun performers to watch that I've seen in a while - he could not have been having more fun on that stage and his energy was infectious.

Head here to download their 4 song EP for free (woot!) - I can't get enough of it and am desperate for more. Since NYC Taper was in the house last night as well, I am hoping he'll be sharing a recording of their stellar cover of Tears For Fears Everybody Wants To Rule The World soon.
