Jenny just IMd me and told me that Ahmet Ertegun passed away last night, which is such a sad loss for the music world. Brooklyn Vegan made a nice post about him, and you can read his obituary here.

On a personal note, I road the elevator once with him when I was working at Atlantic (he still came to work all the time, which I always thought was really awesome). It was just the two of us, and he said good afternoon to me and asked me what department I worked in. When I told him A & R he smiled and said "Good, I'm glad." That less than a minute long conversation is probably something I'll never forget.
